About The Producer
Founded in 1935 Bodega Cuatro Rayas has been a fixture in the Castile and Léon region of Spain. As a definitive estate, they have a unique environmentally conscious outlook. Their commitment to sustainability is exhibited by organically farmed vineyards, a new zero-waste winery, vegan-friendly filtering, and even biodegradable bottle screwcaps and labels.
Terroir & Vineyard Practices:
The Bodega’s organic vineyards are in Rueda. The patchwork of vineyards has a sandy-clay blend of soils that are deep and well-draining. This region is the home of the rare and indigenous white grape, Verdejo, and boldly flavored Tempranillo.
Tasting Notes
A beautiful bright ruby red color with some purple hints. The nose has a friendly charm with ripe berries, and it is soft and velvety on the palate. With a good balance of acidity and tannins, this is round and luxurious. Pair with stews, roasts, and cheeses.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested at night. The wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel with daily racking. It is aged in oak barrels for three months. A mineral filtration is used in order to make the wine Vegan friendly.
