About The Producer
Castell d’Age is the creation of three generations of women in the Junyent family, located in the Beguda Baixa, in the heart of the Alt Penedés region. It all started with Aurèlia Figuera and then was transformed by Anne Marie Comtesse in the late 1980s with the production of Cavas. Anne Marie is a pioneer in introducing organic farming in the region. With the addition of her daughter Olivia Junyent to the business, they are now certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, a method that respects the relationship between humans and earth.
Terroir & Vineyard Practices:
The Bodega is certified organic and biodynamic at the strictest levels, using little to no added sulfites in their wines. This wine comes from young vines grown in Can Torres, on stony chalk soils. The label represents all of the different aspects of biodynamic agriculture that come together to create the wine: the people, terroir, environment, climate, soil, etc.
Made exclusively from Syrah this rose has a deep ruby color. The nose is complex with intense aromas of wild berries, strawberries, and raspberries, with creaminess on the finish. It has a refreshing cheerful character with balance and good length. A bold rose with personality ideal for bold flavors in appetizers to full-flavored fishes, like tuna, or white meats.
The grapes are harvested in the second half of September. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast at controlled temperatures.
