About The Producer

The Château was originally founded in the 18th century and by 1860, Château Biston became Château Biston-Brillette, ranked 1st Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of Moulis. Today, the Château is owned by Serge Barbarin and the vineyard includes 26 hectares of vines.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

The “signature” of the Château's terroir is the even balance between the gravel terroirs and the marl-clay-limestone terroirs surrounding the village of Moulis. The finesse and elegance of wines from gravel soils combines with the strength and color of wines from clay-limestone soils.

Tasting Notes

Château Biston-Brillette has it all - ripe fruit, seductive nose, and full-bodied goodness for a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Shimmery, garnet robed and dark, berry fruit with perfectly balanced tannins - this wine is a real Bordeaux class in an elegant and modern style.

Vinification

They follow the traditional winemaking process. The grapes are sorted and de-stemmed before maceration in stainless steel. After fermentation the wine is placed into barrel for 2-3 months. The wine is fined and bottled at the Château.

  • 91 points - Vinous: "The 2016 Biston-Brillette has a lovely blackberry, cedar and tobacco-scented bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very well judged acidity, harmonious, silky and smooth with very well integrated new oak. Bon vin! Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London. Drink 2020-2035."- Neal Martin, Vinous
  • 90 points - Wine Enthusiast: "This is a smoky, ripe wine with young new-wood flavors that will calm down. Ripe blackberry fruits that balance jammy Merlot and crisper, structured Cabernet Sauvignon are full of dark flavors with spice and considerable acidity to keep freshness at the end. Drink from 2022."- Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast
