About The Producer

Clos San Quilico was founded by the marriage of the Orenga de Gaffory and Piazza-Alessandrini families. They own 35 hectares in the appellation of Patrimonio, which is the oldest and most well-known appellation in Corsica. Their vineyards are planted to the Niellucio (Sangiovese), Vermentino, and Grenache. They use traditional winemaking practices and do not use fertilizers or chemical pesticides – organic certification is pending. Philippe Rideau is the current winemaker.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

The vines benefit from the calcareous soil and the perfect microclimate of the hillside vineyards that sweep down to the Gulf of Saint Lorent in the Mediterranean. With a deep respect for the terroir, they promote the dynamism and biodiversity of their soils by plowing the traditional way. They do not use chemical fertilizers or herbicides. This wine is sourced from vines on the limestone slopes with schist subsoil.

Tasting Notes

This wine has a pink color with grey reflections. Both lively and velvety, it is balanced with delicate aromas and a dominating freshness. Perfect for sipping pleasure, or as an accompaniment to appetizers and summer dishes.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-harvested then each parcel is vinified separately to achieve the best of the vintage.
