About The Producer
The Berthenet family has been growing vines for about four centuries. The estate is located in Montagny in the Cote Chalonnaise. The estate works with passion to respect the environment. All the plots are planted from selected grafts from the estate's nursery.
Terroir & Vineyard Practices:
Premier Cru Les Perrières comes from parcels in Montagny-les-Buxy that total 0.55 ha, with the vines averaging 25 years-old. These plots sit with south-east exposure and are planted in Clay-limestone soil.
Tasting Notes
A concentrated nose offers aromas of acacia, pear, and spices. The wine has a good mouthfeel with subtle oak influences and minerality that expresses the Montagny terroir. Fresh and energetic with a persistent finish that showcases the wine’s power. Pair with Lobster! Drink from 2-5 years.
Vinification
The plots are harvested at optimum maturity to achieve the best balance. The grapes are pressed gently. The juice is vinified and raised in oak barrels for 12 months with lees stirring.
