About The Producer

The Delpech family has been producing wine for four generations at Domaine de Lavaur. Today the 15 hectare domaine is run by Yves Delpech. Located in the Lot Valley, in the heart of the Cahors appellation, the domaine specializes in inky-dark wines made from Malbec, also known as Côt. They are proud to be Independent Vignerons, who respect both tradition and the environment.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

The wine comes from vines, aged between 15 and 45 years old, planted on lightly graveled soil on the second terrace, and clay-limestone soils on the third terrace. They practice sustainable farming.

Tasting Notes

Ruby red color. The wine has a fruity aroma with notes red and black fruits. On the palette the wine is expressive. Its pleasing mouthfeel comes from a display of very fine tannins. Velvety on the finish.

Vinification

Traditional vinification is done in stainless steel thermo-regulated vats for three weeks. Each vineyard plot is kept separate so the focus can be on the fruit, roundness, and elegance rather than developing hard, drying tannins. The wine is then aged for 16 months in vats.
