About The Producer
Created in 1989, Domaine de Pignan can trace its origins back to an estate called Domaine Antoine Pecoul, which has been producing wines in Chateauneuf du Pape since 1855. This family estate is now under the care of Frederic Charvin (the fourth generation). Frederic lovingly maintains his family's 15-hectare estate of 25 different vineyard plots, all located in the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation (many of them in THE best sites).
Terroir & Vineyard Practices:
The grapes come from 1 ha of 60-year-old vines. The soil is a mixture of clay and sandy shingles.
Tasting Notes
A medium-bodied aromatic white wine with flavors of white peach, citrus blossoms, and hints of green herbs. This has a clean, fresh style that’s concentrated because it comes from 60+year-old vines.
Vinification
The grapes are handpicked and sorted. They practice de-stemming with low-temperature fermentation to retain
fresh fruit flavors. Then 25% of the wine is aged in new oak barrels (on the lees 6 months) with the balance aged in tank.
