About The Producer

Domaine Ninot is a family estate based in Rully in the Côte Chalonnaise. Since 2003 Erell Ninot has been at the helm cultivating 10 ha in the Rully and Mercurey, a third of which are 1er crus. Erell received the prestigious “best young winemaker” in Burgundy distinction. Today, she works alongside her brother, Flavien. The stand-out characteristic of the Domaine’s wines is their staggeringly fruit-forward profile. The Domaine's Organic Certification is in process.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

Erell's red Rully, Chaponniere issues from a single-vineyard by that name. There is no blending or muddling (or extending) of its glorious terroir signature. The vines average a stately 35+ years-old, bringing concentration and complexity to the wine.

Tasting Notes

Selected by NY Times columnist Eric Asimov as his favorite 2012 Cote Chalonnaise, Chaponniere continues to please. Elegant aromas lead to a cherry-dominated palate. Light oak adds structure to the bright red fruit flavors.

Vinification

Chaponniere is raised 50% in oak barrels (of which 10% are new) and 50% in stainless steel. Erell raises her wines with skill and care, always taking care to preserve all the delicate aromatic elements.
