About The Producer
This small multigenerational family producer has a long history. They are located in the heart of Chavignol, considered a Cru of Sancerre. Serge's son, Guillaume, succeeded his father as the winemaker over 10 years ago and continues to raise the bar.
Terroir & Vineyard Practices:
The Serge Laporte vineyards are located on several different beautifully exposed sites in Chavignol. But, the grapes for their rose come from younger vines (15 years old) in parcels in the argile-calcaire or clay-limestone soils. The argile-calcaire is excellent for Pinot Noir because it creates wines that are structured and long-lived. They practice reasoned agriculture with no insecticide and no chemical weed control.
Tasting Notes
The Serge Laporte’s Rosé is 100% Pinot Noir that comes from a few precious parcels of vines. This rosé is a pale, soft pink color. It has silky aromas of candied fruits (strawberry and citrus with fantastic acidity and a long, lingering finish.
Vinification
Guillaume uses a combination of 1/3 saignee method and 2/3 pressurage. You get both fruit and structure to this delicate and elegant rosé.
