About The Producer

This small multigenerational family producer has a long history. They are located in the heart of Chavignol, considered a Cru of Sancerre. Serge's son, Guillaume, succeeded his father as the winemaker over 10 years ago and continues to raise the bar.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

The Serge Laporte vineyards are located on several different beautifully exposed sites in Chavignol. But, the grapes for their Pinot Noir come from parcels in the argile-calcaire or clay-limestone soils. The argile-calcaire is excellent for Pinot Noir because it creates wines that are structured and long-lived. They practice reasoned agriculture with no insecticide and no chemical weed control.

Tasting Notes

Lush and ripe on the palate with soft, velvety tannins, this 100% Pinot Noir boasts beautiful red fruit flavors of raspberry and ripe strawberry. The finish is lingering and seductive and will leave you eagerly anticipating your next sip.

Vinification

After 5 days of cold maceration and then a 10-day fermentation, the wine is aged for 10-months, 2/3 in barrels (5+ years old), and 1/3 in tank.
