About The Producer

Suremain means “sure hand” in French and Eric de Suremain’s age-worthy Burgundies are proof of that. His vineyards and winemaking are biodynamic.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

This wine is an assemblage of 2 different parcels with a south facing-exposure. Certified Organic/Biodynamic at strictest level.

Tasting Notes

Pinot Noir with a full and intense nose with notes of blackcurrant, cherry with a vanilla tip and a chocolate finish, spicy. The tannins are soft and round. A delightful accompaniment to red meats as well as creamy or soft cheeses.

Vinification

Eric de-stems 100% of his grapes. It undergoes natural yeast fermentation. This wine remains in barrel for as long as two years. His wines are long-lived and will drink well up to ten years or more.

Press

  • "The 2014 Monthélie 1er Cru Clou des Chênes has a fragrant floral bouquet, hints of iris and violet filtering through the blackberry and raspberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite supple tannin and a little more weight towards the finish for a Monthélie. There is good extraction here, though it just needs to muster a little more finesse on the finish. I feel that may develop with a few months in bottle. Drink 2018-2028." - Neil Martin, Wine Advocate
