About The Producer

Philippe Kubler (his Domaine, Paul Kubler, still bears the name of his father) is an intensely passionate, incredibly talented winemaker with a top-notch resume and, most importantly, top-notch wines. Beginning with the 2004 vintage, Philippe took over his family's Domaine. The Kubler family's estate is 9 hectares (about 22 acres), and the average age of the vines is over 35 years old. The Kublers have been making wine here since 1620 and use sustainable farming practices.

Terroir & Vineyard Practices:

The Gewurztraminer vines were first planted in 1981 in a limestone and pink-sandstone deposit in Soultzmatt. The grapes are picked and sorted by hand

Tasting Notes

Capricious and opulent the nose is powerful and with delicate aromas of lychee, rose, mango, and passion fruit on a lemony and spicy frame. On the palate, the wine is semi-sweet with spicy floral notes that are sensual and delicate. With a strong core of acidity, this wine is refreshing. All of this is critical, especially when it's paired with rich fatty pork dishes, Sushi, Asian cuisine, and exotic spices in Creole, Moroccan or Indian food.

Vinification

The grapes undergo a gentle pressing over 5 hours. Fermentation lasts for one month, and then the wine is aged in stainless steel on the lees for 10 months. Bottled in the Spring. With RS 25g/l this wine is half-dry.
